THE BLACK THAT I AM

Written By Karl O'Brian Williams

DIRECTED BY Will Brown

  • HERE Arts Theatre - March 17 - April 2, 2023

The Black That I Am is a one act theatrical meditation on blackness involving drama, comedy, movement, and spoken word.  How is Blackness performed and perceived? How does its impact and meaning shift when cloaked in the politics of race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, economics, identity and family? An ensemble claiming ancestral lineage from Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States explore these questions for an impossible 90 minutes on stage! We invite you to share in our community!
