Embark on a musical journey celebrating the islands: Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Haiti & Dominican Republic! The Braata Folk Singers present a mesmerizing concert experience that pays tribute to the captivating cultures and rich musical traditions of Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Haiti & Dominican Republic. Get ready to be swept away by an evening of soul-stirring melodies, infectious rhythms, and awe-inspiring performances. Join us as we gather at the heart of the stage, immersing ourselves in the vibrant tapestry of these extraordinary islands. Each one has a unique story to tell, and through music, we will unravel the beauty and essence that define their musical heritage.

 

The New York-based group, from the onset, focused primarily on showcasing and preserving Caribbean folk music, but now performs inspirational and reggae songs. The Braata Folk Singers, under the creative direction of Jamaican born actor, singer, and producer Andrew Clarke, and the musical direction of Joel Edwards, will once again present a diverse array of arrangements. 

 

The show, titled “Potpourri” owing to the eclectic mix that this celebration offers highlighting music from Grenada (50th Independence ), St Lucia (45th Independence), St Vincent & the Grenadines (55th Independence ), Haiti (220th Independence) & Dominican Republic (180th Independence). The upcoming season is designed to celebrate some of the most remarkable musical milestones of each of these nations - looking back while also moving forward.
